Profit & Loss (P&L)
Profit & Loss (Profit & Loss or P&L) represents the performance of your Portfolio in nominal values over a specific period, so you can know how your investments are doing. It is calculated as the current value of a position minus the initial amount invested in it. For an entire portfolio, it is the sum of the P&L of each position.
Tracking P&L allows investors to understand how well their investments are performing and can guide future investment decisions.
In GorilaCORE, we provide two endpoints for P&L. One endpoint returns a historical series specific to a given portfolio, while the other provides a detailed breakdown by position. Both endpoints allow filtering by security, asset class, security type, classification and broker, and the breakdown by position also allows grouping the result (groupBy), providing a customized view of your portfolio's performance.
The same views are available for an economic group: Read Economic Group Profit & Losses and List Economic Group Positions Profit & Losses.
