Net Asset Value (NAV)

The Net Asset Value (NAV) of a Portfolio is a fundamental metric for evaluating its evolution over time.

This metric is the sum of all of the portfolio's assets minus its liabilities at a given moment. The assets comprise the sum of the market value of all positions, the cash components and the provisions. It is very useful for creating charts that enable the analysis of the evolution of the portfolio value over time.

In GorilaCORE, you can access a historical series of a specific portfolio's NAV. In addition, our endpoint allows you to filter the result by security, asset class, security type, classification and broker, and to choose the series frequency (daily, monthly, yearly or the entire interval). These features offer several approaches to analyzing the trajectory or the current state of a portfolio. The same series is also available for an economic group, in Read Economic Group Net Asset Value.

By default, futures and forwards positions do not add value to the NAV, since their market value is zero. To include the exposure of these contracts, use the marketValueType parameter with the value EXPOSURE. See Exposure.
