Security Events

Security Events are all corporate actions and other events (such as interest payments, dividends, amortizations, splits and maturities) associated with a Security. They change the quantity, the identity or the cash flow of whoever holds the security and, for that reason, are taken into account by Gorila's engine when calculating the positions and metrics of a Portfolio.

For most securities, the events are obtained and maintained by Gorila from market sources, without any action from the user. For custom securities, on the other hand, the events are registered by the organization itself.

Each event type has its own effect on the position, the return and the cash. The full list of types, with the description of these effects, can be found in List Security Event Types. To see the events that impacted a portfolio over a period, see Portfolio Security Events.
